Some Questions and Answers
What can I expect from counselling?
- To be listened to
- That what you say will be kept confidential
- To be accepted
- To be respected
- To be supported
What do counsellors do?
A counsellor listens without judging or advising. By listening carefully to what you say and how you respond, the counsellor allows you to reflect upon
what you are saying and to release painful memories or feelings. This can
enable you to explore different ways of looking at a problem and different
options can be considered. A counsellor will not tell you how to think, feel or
what to do but will help you to find your own special answers.
How much does it cost?
The initial assessment session lasting up to 40 mins. is free. If you decide to continue any further sessions will cost £45 per hour
unless you are a student or unemployed in which case it will cost £35.

What are my Qualifications?
I have undertaken an M.A in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Nottingham Trent University 2003/2004).I was awarded a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 1998. I also hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred supervision.I am also a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist.
I am committed to my own programme of
development and self-exploration. I manage my own private practice and am an
associate counsellor with employee assistance programmes.
What if I cannot make my appointment?
It would help me if you could give 24 hours notice if you cannot attend a counselling session. If two consecutive appointments are missed without explanation, then it will be assumed you no longer wish to continue with your counselling sessions.
How long might it take and how often do I need to come?
There is no set length of time and it will vary depending upon what your issues are and what you want to achieve.
To start with you might find weekly sessions helpful and then you can review with me how often you feel you might want to come.
